Celebrating 10 Years as DLZP Group

Since 2011, DLZP Group has been providing expert level ERP support, cloud solutions, security hardening, IT remodeling, and project rescues. As partners with AWS, Canon, and Oracle, DLZP Group has driven IT and cloud solutions forward – offering a clean track record of timely and effective implementations and support programs.

This April marks our 10-year anniversary of providing industry leading solutions and formulating the best answers to a multitude of IT needs.

Ahead of our milestone this year, we sat down with some of the team members that have been here from the start. We asked them what 10 years of DLZP has looked like thus far, and what we may expect in the next 10 years.

Today we share a decade of insights from some of the most experienced members of the team, and the president of DLZP Group.

What sets DLZP Group apart?

Since our inception, DLZP Group has operated with a team-based approach, utilizing a fully- remote team of experts to provide support quickly and efficiently. We asked the team how these factors set DLZP apart, and what our company philosophy allows us to do:

  • “Every project we undertake at DLZP Group is team based. We take a different approach that way – when we set out to work with a client, they’re not getting a single resource, but a team of resources that will support each other in ensuring the best solutions.”

  • “I believe the DLZP team philosophy, and the great work/life balance the company provides sets it apart. Our flexible schedules allow us to adjust for personal needs, but at any given time we have multiple members of the team working on a project.”

  • “Our implementation style is different, and our PeopleSoft style is different. We don’t waste time, we head in, do the job, and get out.”

How would you describe the culture of DLZP Group?

  • “We offer a lot of flexibility. When we bring on new team members, we focus on pinpointing what they’re strong at and what they’re interested in. We focus on offering options for our team, so nobody feels like they’re trapped into doing something they’re not genuinely driven to do.”

  • “Despite being entirely remote, our structure allows for things to feel friendly, fun, and collaborative.”

  • “The DLZP work environment is a relaxed, collaborative atmosphere. Since we’re small, we all wear a lot of hats, and everyone is willing to help and support each other.”

What are some challenges you’re proud to have helped overcome early in the company’s life?

  • Survival. Most startup companies have a short time frame, and few things are as daunting as keeping a new company on its feet. We’ve always had a lot of goals and have strived to achieve those goals consistently. After 10 years, I can’t help but feel we’re doing something right.”

  • “Setting in place our implementation style. I helped build the team and bring on members that are still with us today. There are so many challenges early on – we didn’t have many people, so we all had to wear a lot of hats. It was good for me, it pushed me to know more and gave me an aerial view of what we needed to do.”

  • “During the company’s early years, we struggled at times to develop the best supports for the team – especially with the added challenge of remote working. Once we found the best applications and processes to keep our team in constant contact and functioning as a group, we hit our stride.”

How is DLZP positioned for the future?

  • “We have a strong focus on promoting from within. I’m constantly trying to ensure that our team doesn’t feel limited. Because we want our team to grow alongside the company, our employees often move up quickly and take on more challenges, allowing them to learn and grow. It’s also important that everyone is actively pursuing new learning opportunities and expanding their professional horizons. We don’t want anyone to feel boxed in, but instead want to prove that we’re truly invested in them on a personal and professional level.”

  • “When it comes to PeopleSoft, we are one of the first companies to have done full implementations remotely. People are starting to work from home now, but we always have. I think we’re trendsetting in a way, we were also the first company to host PeopleSoft in the cloud. We’re a small company, but we’ve always been trendsetting.”

  • “DLZP Group has always had the vision to not just evolve with technology but contribute to technical innovation and evolution. By constantly pushing the envelope, I think we’ll be able to continually offer new solutions that address new problems.”

After 10 years as DLZP, what advice would you offer for other startup companies?

  • “There will be no shortage of challenges, and you have to be willing to work long hours and put in the time to support your team. Doing anything in this scale will always be a team effort, and when you invest in building a foundation for that approach you set yourself up for further success.”

  • “Just come work for us! Only joking. I saw how hard Lisa and Dave worked, and it was really difficult. It feels good to know we’re not celebrating 10 years of just sitting around. If I had to give advice I would say ‘don’t start anything you cannot finish – make sure you can stick through it’. It may sound silly, but I think what allowed us to thrive is that we are always trying to do the extraordinary, not just what everyone else has done.”

  • “For those new to a startup, I’d advise having an open mind, a flexible schedule and a collaborative attitude. Working for a startup can be challenging, but the rewards are numerous when you are not just a number but a real recognized contributor in a company.”
